Asia markets started the week mixed, with some markets closed for the holiday. Japan’s Nikkei 225 opened slightly higher, reaching a 34-year high on Friday. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 fell slightly. Wall Street ended the week higher after December’s revised inflation reading came in lower than expected. The S&P 500 closed above 5,000 for the first time ever. Falling bond yields have sparked interest in fixed income. Tech stocks, particularly those on Citi’s “high-conviction” list, may offer further upside. NYCB insiders buying stock may boost investor confidence. India, Japan, and Israel ETFs have outperformed this year.
