Athing Mu will miss Olympics after fall during 800m at U.S. trials

A reigning Olympic gold medalist in women’s 800 meters will miss the opportunity to defend her title in Paris after falling early in her race at the U.S. Olympic track and field trials. The athlete finished ninth with a time of 2:19.69. Despite a hamstring injury and limited race participation before the trials, she was still considered a strong contender for a medal in the upcoming Paris Games. The first, second, and third place finishers in the race were Nia Akins, Allie Wilson, and Juliette Whittaker, respectively.
