A young man claiming to be an investigative journalist in Egypt made false claims about the mother-in-law of Ukraine’s president purchasing a villa near Angelina Jolie’s in El Gouna. The story gained traction on social media and news outlets across multiple countries. Four months later, videos surfaced online stating that the young man had been beaten to death by Ukraine’s secret service agents in Hurghada. These claims were also unfounded but received widespread attention. This is part of Russia’s ongoing disinformation campaign aimed at discrediting Ukraine’s leader and eroding support for the country in the West.
