Rivian and VW join up to design vehicle software

Rivian and Volkswagen Group Form Joint Venture #

Rivian and Volkswagen Group recently announced a joint venture to develop vehicle software. As part of this collaboration, VW will invest $5 billion into Rivian, including an immediate $1 billion investment. The joint venture company’s name and leadership team have not been disclosed. Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe explained that the joint venture will have two co-leaders reporting to both automakers. The investment from VW will help Rivian expand its manufacturing capabilities, including the construction of a new factory in Georgia. Both companies plan to launch new vehicles leveraging the joint venture’s technologies before 2030.
