Target is dialing back on Pride merchandise after right-wing backlash

Target has decided to limit the number of stores selling LGBTQ-themed merchandise for Pride Month following a boycott from right-wing activists. This is a significant change for the retailer, as it has historically sold these items in many of its US stores for the past decade. Only about half of Target’s stores will sell the Pride collection this year, with the assortment also available online. The company stated that it remains committed to supporting the LGBTQ community and creating a welcoming environment for its LGBTQIA+ team members. The decision has received mixed reactions from experts and advocacy groups. Last year, Target faced backlash and experienced a decline in sales due to anti-LGBTQ campaigns and threats against its employees.
